In a nutshell: Loudmouth 1.0 is a drag-and-drop utility which will tell you (literally; audibly) what the four-character filetype is for any file you drag into the mouth icon. If you create an alias of Loudmouth, you can keep it in a convenient spot on your Desktop and drag files to it at any time and hear the associated filetype spelled out for you. Be sure your Sound is turned on (in the Sound control panel)!
The vocabulary files ('a' thru 'z' plus Default & Preamble) *MUST* be in the same folder as Loudmouth in order for the program to work. DON'T drag Loudmouth into another folder unless you also drag all the other sound files with it.
The sound files are AIFF-C files created with the aid of AIFF Recorder 1.0 (another utility written by yours truly; available from the above address for $20, or free from many online services). If you own a copy of AIFF Recorder, you can record your OWN vocabulary files and use Loudmouth as a driver.
